Many stakeholders need to be engaged to achieve the responsible integration of UAM into communities to meet our daily transportation needs and serve the public good. Historically, city planners, politicians and business leaders did not consider the needs of the aviation community outside of local airports, but UAM changes everything. The CAFE Foundation and Vertical Flight Society have been working to advance electric aviation for many years and partnered again for the 14th Annual EAS, held on July 28–30, 2020. Electric and hybrid electric-powered aircraft have the potential to significantly reduce air transportation costs, carbon emissions, and community noise. EAS is the longest-serving conference in the world focused on the promise, progress and challenges of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL), electric conventional takeoff and landing (eCTOL) and electric short takeoff and landing (eSTOL) aircraft.
