Advanced Air Mobility - Integrating the Third Dimension into Metropolitan Transportation Systems
Advancements in technology such as electric propulsion, autonomy and mobility as a service are redefining flight. Electric aircraft are flying today that are capable of adding a third dimension to transportation systems. But are cities and regions prepared for this new form of transportation? Are they incorporating aerial mobility into their transportation planning? Are they considering the necessary infrastructure to support this new mode of transportation? Advanced air mobility promises to add capabilities to a multi-modal transportation system that can address current needs such as stronger connections between communities, additional emergency services, elimination of transportation deserts, increased range of access to the urban core and reduced need for vehicle traffic within the urban core.
This panel will discuss the opportunities and challenges of incorporating aerial mobility into metropolitan regions, and provide planners with the resources they need to consider this new form of transportation.
